Shenzhen is a major international gateway for China to engage in diplomatic and commercial activities. Located on the strategically important coast in South China and adjacent to Hong Kong, the city has the most ports in the country, and apparent comprehensive transportation advantages. The prominent geographic advantages give the city a solid foundation to strengthen its export-oriented economy, and it is an unrivalled passageway for global investors to enter the enormous Mainland China market.

Industry clusters in the Pearl River Delta region. Starting from Shenzhen, you can source various types of key components within a one hour drive. Finished products from factories can be delivered to ports in Shenzhen and Hong Kong within an hour ready to be shipped to destinations around the world. This is quite a competitive edge compared to other countries and regions.

Shenzhen Port ranks third in terms of throughput among container ports worldwide. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is the fourth biggest airport and the first modern international airport that has realized sea, land, and air transportation in China. It has flights with over 100 cities worldwide. As of February 2013, the city offers flights to 97 cities, 137 navigable routes, and there are 9 freight base airlines.

Total imports and exports, and exports both lead among major cities on the mainland, with exports ranked first for 21 consecutive years. As of May 2013, 192 Fortune Global 500 companies had investments in the city.

Shenzhen was granted the title of "Asia-Pacific City of the Future" by Foreign Direct Investment magazine. The city was ranked 5th in economic potential and 2nd in business environment, which clearly shows that Shenzhen is well recognized among international investors.
